When Passion Overcomes Fear

Discover what it means to let your passion overcome your fear when you watch this cell phone salesman audtition for Britain's Got Talent. You can tell by the judges' initial reactions to Paul Potts's announcement that he was going to perform opera for them how low their expectations were. And then you can watch how this man, once so plagued by bullies that he said that his voice was always his best friend, ignites the audience. [read on...]

Really Weird but Really Good

This may just be a pregnancy thing, but I was craving candy corn, and once I was in the do-it-yourself candy store I decided I was also craving chocolate, so I filled a bag with candy corn and M&Ms. First I ate some candy corn, and then I ate some M&Ms, and then I accidentally ate some of them together. And the combination was really good! [read on...]

Things We Love: Luscious Cheesecake for a Cause

I’m happy to eat cheesecake for no particular reason, but it’s even better when I can support a good cause! Carousel Cakes (certified Kosher) has created two new cakes that are sure to make you smile: the Pink Ribbon Cheesecake and the Pink Velvet Cake are pink, delicious, have no trans fats AND they benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. My extended family got to try the Pink Ribbon Cheesecake on Succot and we were floored. The cake is rich and creamy and tastes just like you think a cheesecake should. My grandmother took one bite and looked up in shock—we didn’t hear another word from her until she asked for a second piece. [read on…]

Perfect Timing

How many times have you asked yourself (or anyone around you who might know) when the holidays start this year? And whether when they say “the twelfth,” do they mean the twelfth at night or that the twelfth is the first day of Rosh Hashanah, but really the holiday begins the night before? Well, have we got a solution for you.

We stumbled upon the website when-is.com, and it is the answer to our scheduling prayers...

Dumb Food Injuries

Sure, lots of people view pizza as a hazardous food. I’ve had the roof of my mouth scalded more than once by a too-hot slice, and I’ve learned to slow down and blow and not take such big bites. And yet, at the age of 34, I managed to endure a whole new kind of dumb food injury…
