Baked Garlic Chicken

  • Prep Time: 10 minutes
  • Cooking Time: 45 minutes
  • Serves: 4
Tools: Small mixing bowl, fork or small whisk, cutting board, sharp knife OR a mini-prep food processor, and a large glass baking dish (large enough to hold eight pieces of chicken without overlapping)

It just doesn’t get much easier than this. Faster than you can order takeout you can whip up some garlic paste, pour it over a chicken, and toss the whole thing into the oven. Speedy, simple, and mouth-wateringly good; no one will know it only took ten minutes to prepare.

  • Part of Meal: Entree
  • Food Type: Meat
  • Service Temp: Warm

  • Kosher Hostess Tip:

You can save some time by using a mini-prep food processor to prepare the garlic paste instead of mincing and stirring the ingredients by hand. Simply add all of the ingredients (minus the chicken) into the bowl of the food processor and pulse it until it forms a paste.

  • 1 chicken, cut into eighths, skin attached
  • 10 clove(s) garlic, minced
  • 3 tablespoon(s) extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon(s) kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) freshly ground pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) paprika
  • 3 sprigs of fresh tarragon or thyme, minced (optional)

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

2. Combine garlic, olive oil, salt, ground pepper, paprika, and optional herbs in a small bowl and mix well with a fork or small whisk.

3. Place chicken pieces skin side up in a single layer (without overlapping pieces) in a glass baking dish.

4. Pour garlic paste over the top.

5. Bake 55 minutes, basting once half-way through.

6. Turn the oven up to broil for the last 5 minutes. (Note: Garlic burns easily, so WATCH YOUR CHICKEN!)
